I've never been a big fan of dubbing no matter what the language, but I absolutely can no longer watch Japanese movies dubbed by English-speaking actors.

I sat down with my dinner & looked for something to watch while I ate and one of the Starz channels happens to be showing Godzilla vs. Megaguirus.  I figured it was a crap shoot whether it would be dubbed or subbed since they do tend to show subbed versions of foreign films, which I've greatly appreciated.  The first one to speak would have to be Tanihara!  LOL!  The voice is SO WRONG.  And then Ibu Masato "spoke" and the VA has this high voice, which is the exact opposite of Ibu's.

Three years of steady jdrama-watching has totally ruined me.  I know most of the actors in this film now after seeing them in jdrama & other films and to hear a different voice just freaks me out.   I gave up ever watching Godzilla vs. King Ghidora on US stations again a long time ago,  regardless of how adorable Toyohara is in it.  It makes me sick to hear his voice replaced by one so unnatural.  He's a package deal, y'know?  I want to hear his voice as much as see him because I love the whole sh'bang.

OMG... flashes of What's Up Tiger Lily... Ibu's character is making an impassioned speech and it's just like something right out of that flick!  LOL!  I love the campiness of Godzilla flicks, but I just can't go the dubbed versions anymore.  ^_^
